ARABIC (PASS) [ CODE -41]]
There shall be a paper of 60 marks. The syllabus, distribution of marks and the
pattern of questions shall be as follows:
1. Translation/Explanation of an extract into English or vowel signs from the
following. B. A. Pass Arabic Selection Prose Part-I & II 1963 edition. Eight
Questions each having 2 (two) marks.
(a) Madarik al-Tanzil Pages 1 - 32
(b) Al-Sahis Pages 33 - 42
(c) Amrul Khatim Pages 84 - 102
(d) Al-Thaqafat al-hindiyya Pages 205 - 235
(e) Hafre-Zam Zam Pages 262 - 280
(f) Al-Ulfatuwal –Ikhwatu Pages 80 - 109
2. Explanation/Translation of Different verses or vowel signs from the following
poetry. B. A. Pass Arabic Selection Poetry Part – II: Eight questions each
having two marks.
(a) Hasan bin Thabit Pages 7 - 15
(b) Al-Hamasa Pages 61 - 82
(c) Al Mutanabi Pages 133 - 139
(d) Ahmed Shawqi Bek Pages 222 - 230
(e) Hafiz Ibrahim Pages 231 - 237
(f) Muallaqa-e-Imraul-Qais : Pages 128 - 131
(g) Qasidah Mimiyya of Muallaqa-e-Zuhair

3. Grammar. There will be six questions each having two marks
(a) Etymology : (i) Verbs their measures (Adwab) and Characteristics
(II) Irregular verbs including perfect (Sahih) Hamzated (Mahmuz)
infirm (Mutal) Surd 9Mudhaaf).
(b) Numbers, Singular & Plural
(c) Different kinds of Particles (Al-Hurah)
(d) Syntex : (1) Different kinds of sentences (II) Grammatical Analysis
of any sentence or verse with vowel signs. (III) Mafail Khamsa. Hal.
Tamiz, Mushabbah bil Fil etc.
(e) Powers (Al-Awamil al- Samaiyya)
(f) Rhetoric& Prosody
I. Ilmul Bayan, Ilmul badi, 11, Al Magta, Al-Arkan, Al Ilat, Al-Bahr
and Al-Taqti
4. History of Arabic Literature from Pre-Islamic period to Abbasid period, on
different aspects of life and works of the important scholars writers and poets
etc. There will be 8 (eight) questions each having two marks.
